Freestanding cat trees are easier to install and move, and work well when floor space allows. Wall-mounted shelves save floor space and can look more intentional as decor, but need a bigger upfront setup.
Most cats are happy with either, as long as there's real height and a stable perch — the choice usually comes down to your room, not your cat's preference.
